Our Center Director, Asst. Prof. Esin Çağlayan, Participated in a Panel on AI-Driven Transformation in Higher Education
Asst. Prof. Esin Çağlayan, Director of the İzmir University of Economics (IUE) Teaching and Learning Center (EKOEĞİTİM–TLC), participated as a speaker in the panel titled “AI-Driven Transformation in Higher Education: The Role of Teaching and Learning Centers,” organized by the Professional Development Network in Higher Education (YÖMEGA).
Held online on April 6, 2026, the panel marked the opening of YÖMEGA’s Spring 2026 events. Bringing together academics with expertise from various universities, the event explored the transformation brought about by artificial intelligence in higher education and the roles of teaching and learning centers in this process.
During the panel, Asst. Prof. Esin Çağlayan shared EKOEĞİTİM–TLC’s experience and initiatives in AI-supported teaching and learning. The panelists also discussed the responsibilities of teaching and learning centers in supporting faculty members and students, promoting innovative pedagogical approaches, contributing to academic development, and strengthening collaboration across institutions.
The panel also featured Prof. Cengiz Hakan Aydın from Özyeğin University, Prof. İlkay Boz from Akdeniz University, Prof. Yasemin Demiraslan Çevik from Hacettepe University, and Prof. Filiz Kalelioğlu from Başkent University. It was moderated by Prof. Ali Ekrem Özkul, Vice Chair of the YÖMEGA Executive Board.
The panel provided an opportunity to examine the impact of artificial intelligence on higher education through a range of institutional experiences and to discuss the roles that teaching and learning centers may assume in the future.
