Processing Community Day İzmir 2026 is a community-led gathering celebrating creative coding, digital art, and the open-source ecosystem, co-hosted by FlooowLab in the Department of Visual Communication Design, Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Izmir University of Economics.

Processing Community Day is a day to celebrate art, code, and diversity. Taking place during Processing’s 25th anniversary year, the event brings together artists, designers, technologists, educators, students, and anyone curious about creative coding.

As part of the global Processing Community Day network, PCD İzmir features:

Talks, hands-on workshops, exhibitions, beginner introductions to Processing or p5.js, and screenings.

PCD İzmir welcomes people of *all experience levels* to meet the local creative coding community, exchange ideas, experiment together, and explore new ways of creating with code.

We don’t see PCD İzmir as just a one-day event. Our goal is to connect İzmir’s creative coding community and lay the groundwork for future meetups, collaborations, and gatherings.

We support participation and community creation by cordially inviting participants to submit their sketches created with Processing or p5.js or other creative coding means to be showcased as part of the PCD 2026 İzmir exhibition and screening.

Processing Community Day

Started in 2017, Processing Community Day (PCD) is a global movement that brings together the open-source creative coding community to advance a more collaborative, vibrant, and transformative software culture. The annual PCD is made up of distributed gatherings organized by 50+ regional nodes worldwide.

Processing

Processing is a graphics library and integrated development environment (IDE) built for the electronic arts, new media art, and visual design communities with the purpose of teaching non-programmers the fundamentals of computer programming in a visual context.

Flooowlab: Computational and Interaction Practices - IEU

Flooowlab a design through practice laboratory of the Visual Communication Design Department that promotes computational media and physical computing as a daily design activity. Current projects regard the representation of cultural and archaeological heritage through interactive exhibitions and the experimentation with interaction ecologies; past work includes developing AI for wearables and archival interfaces. The lab offers a variety of devices and microcontrollers for the design and development of custom electronic devices as well as interactive installations.
