The project aims to support the social, personal, and vocational development of students with mild intellectual disabilities attending special education vocational schools, to provide them with opportunities to experience occupations suited to their interests and abilities, and to enhance their participation in the labour market.Within the facilities of Izmir University of Economics, workshops on gastronomy, textile and design, furniture making, visual arts, occupational health and safety, and documentation/archiving will be conducted. Students will have the opportunity to experience a variety of vocational practices by benefiting from the university’s facilities, infrastructure, and resources. The workshops will be complemented by field trips, and through cooperation with the Izmir Chamber of Commerce, internship opportunities at local businesses will be provided to enable students to further develop the skills and experience they acquire during the workshops.The project’s second target group will consist of volunteer parents of participating students. Activities for parents will focus on stress and anger management, family guidance in career choice, yoga and breathing exercises, and health promotion. The project will consist of two activity periods: workshops and field trips will be conducted during the first period, followed by internship placements during the second period. The effectiveness of the project will be evaluated using both quantitative and qualitative methods, considering changes in students’ quality of life as well as the views and experiences of students, teachers, and parents.
