As part of the 2025 UN International Year of Cooperatives, the Sociology Department organizes an event that explores gastronomy as a space of solidarity and cooperativism.
The“yer sofrası” (communal floor dining) will be explored not just as a way of eating, but as a cultural expression of living together, sharing, and belonging.
Gastronomy will also be discussed as a cultural and ecological practice through which traditional knowledge is transmitted, biodiversity is preserved, and social-spatial relations are continuously redefined.
In this panel moderated by Tolga Kamiloğlu, Aylin Örnek, Oğuzhan Çoban, and Tangör Tan will share their insights and experiences.
The event will be held in Turkish. All academics, students, and interested participants are welcome.
