FIRST STEP FOR IUE 2010 – 2014 STRATEGY

İzmir Chamber of Commerce Administrative Board and İzmir University of Economics Board of Trustees President Ekrem Demirtaş, who followed all the meetings, said that IUE had completed its infrastructure and took a step towards its aim to become a research-oriented, innovative world university.

Strategic priority areas are discussed in the first day of the meetings that lasted two days in Çeşme Ilıca Hotel. The suggestions of the attendants are shared with the meeting hall through the moderators from 12 different tables. In the second day, the decisions taken are evaluated. There were important discourses declaring big steps in the meeting where hundreds of suggestions are evaluated one by one.

İzmir University of Economics Board of Trustees President Ekrem Demirtaş emphasized that the basic principal in the foundation of the university was "being student oriented”. Demirtaş underlined that this would not change and said, “While establishing this university in 2001 we said that we would teach how to reach and how to use knowledge. We would have an interactive education system. We said we would be an electronic university. That is why we established our library as an electronic library. We completed a period and reached our aims.”

Demirtaş stated that they aimed to raise students with entrepreneur spirit who would be successful in business life not only in their own country but also in everywhere of the world.  He said that İzmir University of Economics aimed to become an innovative, research-oriented world university.

İzmir University of Economics Rector Prof. Dr. Attila Sezgin stated that listening to the suggestions and even the conflicts brought out beneficial results and said, "We will try to direct our university by looking for the common sense.“ Prof. Dr. Sezgin also said that the main structure that would direct the university was formed and IUE was getting stronger with the annual action plans.
