FULL SUPPORT FROM ADVISORY COMMITTEE TO FACULTY OF COMMUNICATION

IUE Board of Trustees President Ekrem Demirtaş thanked to the support of the Advisory Board “In order for our students that graduate from Faculty of Communication to be equipped with the qualifications needed by the sector, your suggestions and support are very important. While forming the course programs your suggestions directed us. We are ready to make further collaborations with the representatives of the sector. We are working on distance education via TV. We are planning to implement them in future.” 

Dean Prof. Dr. Sevda Alankuş gave short information about the Faculty of Communication and talked about their projects and said “We are waiting for your suggestion about he new courses. In spring, we will organize a conference with Communication Researches Association on Media-Government-Politics. With our new course “Local Media and Media Studies in Turkey” we will get your together with the students. Besides, we will start “Media and Communication Master Program” next year. In the scope of Erasmus exchange program, 1 student, and 1 lecturer went to BSC University in Hungary in 2008-2009 academic year. 2 students are accepted to a company in Italy to perform their internship. We became the member of European Communication Research and Education Association. We will have 10 students for International Joint Public Relations and Advertising Program in the scope of IUE-SUNY (Fredonia) cooperation. The students will study last two years in the USA. The students will receive dual diploma and have a chance to perform their internships and work in the USA. This will be the first international dual diploma undergraduate program in communication. We are also working for TV broadcasting and want to expand our Radio broadcasting. We also want you to support our students about internship.”

Yenigün Newspaper Concessionaire Ömer Dinçer stated that they were ready for any kind of collaboration and said “Our doors are open for the students”. DHA Regional Representative İlyas Özgüven said “Establishing and agency will be very useful. I think that like in all communication faculties, the students must be supported more about Turkish. Besides, turning Univers Bulletin into a newspaper will be a good development.” NTV İzmir Representative Melih Ak wanted radio broadcasting to be transferred to cellular phones and to make online newspaper. Milliyet Newspaper Ege Supplement Author Deniz Sipahi stated that offering certificate program on “Media Relations” under the auspices of communication faculties would be very useful. Dünya Gazetesi İzmir Representative Ali Ekber Yıldırım said that he wanted the students to be encouraged for practical applications. İzmir Association of Advertising Agencies President Murat Türkay stated that they were ready to work collectively with the university in any subject. At the end of the meeting it is decided to form a campus page on Yenigün and Yeniasır Newspapers with Faculty of Communication students.
