ÇALKAYA: THE YOUNG PEOPLE MUST BE MORE ACTIVE IN POLITICS
Mehmet Ali Çalkaya stated that 1968 and 1978 generations had changed many things is the world and in Turkey and said “However, an apolitic generation is formed after 1980s. The young people who were actively in politics are now in pubs. There was a move in 90s but it was not enough. It cannot be counted when compared to the generation of 78. They also made some mistakes. They did not show respect to opposite side, they used weapons. These should not take place. However, you should take part in politics and say your ideas. This society became sheepish these days. You are the ones who can change this.”
Mehmet Ali Çalkaya emphasized the fact that Atatürk commended the Republic to the youth and showed how much he trusted them. Çalkaya said “The young people are very important for our country; we need them for a confidential future. Do not be afraid of politics, have your say, public consciousness is possible only this way. Do not stick around the philosophy of politics. If there is a rise in the prices object to it in the framework of laws. Protest the mistakes of governments, politicians. Be a member of an organized, conscious society. Do not be afraid of saying your ideas. Also listen to the ones who say their ideas.”
After the conference, the 2nd Traditional Opening Anniversary of Politics Platform is celebrated in the cocktail attended by IUE Secretary General Levent Gökçeer, academic staff and club members.
