SHEDDING LIGHT ON THE FUTURE OF SCIENCE WORLD
Izmir University of Economics (IUE) is shedding light on the dreams of young students who want to become the future aerospace engineers. Izmir University of Economics, who is dedicated to train and educate students who can establish and improve eco-friendly, safe, technologically and economically feasible aircrafts and space crafts and technologies that will be used in transportation, exploration, telecommunication, and in both national and universal defense at the Department of Aerospace Engineering, which admitted its first students this year, shared the dream of 8th grader Görkem Özgür Genç who wants to study the functioning of the universe. Genç, whom reached out to Ekrem Demirtaş, President of IUE Board of Trustees, and told him about his project, was given the telescope as a present by Demirtaş that will help him carry out his research.
President Demirtaş stated that the country’s bright future holds youth who will produce science and technology. Demirtaş said, “We also have a vision that involves space. I strongly believe that we need to support the youth about this. IUE Science College will start education at Güzelbahçe Campus in 2018. All disciplines will work together in our new education system. We will train and educate youth there who will produce science and technology. This generation’s enthusiasm in science and research excite us very much. We want to carry our country to the future by supporting these students.”
‘His dream is to develop his theory’
8th grader Görkem Özgür Genç thanked President Demirtaş for making his dream come true and said that he was very happy. Genç stated that he always wondered how the universe functioned, and that he would use his new telescope to make observations in order to develop his theory.
