A FIRST BY IZMIR UNIVERSITY OF ECONOMICS AT THE FESTIVAL
The bands Odyø Vijul and Expérience Limite, made up of faculty members and students of Izmir University of Economics Faculty of Communication, and Department of Psychology, performed at the 24th Izmir European Jazz Festival organized by Izmir Foundation for Culture, Arts and Education (IKSEV) with the support of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality.
Odyø Vijul, consisting of Asst. Prof. Dr. Aras Özgün, Head of IUE Department of Cinema and Digital Media, and Yiğit Eygi, Graduate of Department of Media and Communication, and Expérience Limite, consisting of Asst. Prof. Dr. Burak Erdeniz, and Lecturer Hazal Bayar, both from Department of Psychology, and Talat Savaşkan, student from Faculty of Communication, performed a live video performance.
Asst. Prof. Dr. Özgün and Eygi performed “Chronographs: Improvisations on Marey” at Ahmed Adnan Saygun Art Center (AASSM). The band re-interpreted the images of Etienne Jules Marey, whose work was significant in the development of cinematography, in another time line and another technological platform with the help of impromptu music and fiction. In the second part, Expérience Limite, consisting of Asst. Prof. Dr. Burak Erdeniz, Bayar and Savaşkan, blended black-and-white images with color images accompanied with electronic music.
