KUMRU DAY MEETING OF IUE ALUMNI
Graduates of Izmir University of Economics (IUE), has come together on the 4th Kumru Day, and relived old memories. The guests enjoyed eating kumrus, one of Izmir’s many symbols, and chatted at IUE Balçova Campus Ceremony Field accompanied with DJ Tamer Varis’s music.
Cengiz Ülken, Chairman of the IUE Alumni Association, stated in his speech that their main purpose was to gather together under one roof and feel the sense of belonging to Izmir University of Economics, and acted as one. Ülken, also stressed the importance of Izmir University of Economics ranking among the first 500 universities worldwide and he said, “Wherever we go, we take our diplomas along with us. If we move forward with this in mind, be aware of our values, claim our diplomas, and stay connected as alumni, we will make many more rankings”.
‘New blood from one thousand new members each year’
Özge Tuna, IUE Alumni Association Coordinator stated that they started the “Alumni Card” process and said, “Our association is getting bigger with almost one thousand new members each year. We have more than 8 thousand graduates at Izmir University of Economics which is about to start its 14th Academic Year. It is difficult to get stronger as separate branches after graduation. We can only get stronger by staying together and only then our diplomas will gain more power. You can use your alumni card when you enter the university, at the library, or at other activities. From now on, you will be able to use your Alumni Cards for discounts at some negotiated institutions or workplaces.”
