IZMIR UNIVERSITY OF ECONOMICS WILL TRAIN NEW GENERATION OF BANKERS
Izmir University of Economics (IUE) Graduate School of Social Sciences will be training qualified individuals needed by the banking sector that is in the growth process. Banking and Applied Finance Master Program to be offered at IUE will provide training on various simulation applications and financial modelling methods for bankers.
Prof. Dr. Oğuz Esen, Head of Department of IUE Banking and Applied Finance Master Program, stated that banking sector was one of the sectors with the most foreign capital, and he said 37 out of 49 banks had share of foreign capital, and foreigners were principal shareholders in 24 of those banks. Esen also indicated that banking sector was one of the 7 strategic sectors which were expected to show an employment increase in the next 10 years based on the National Employment Strategy. “The current number of the employed in the sector is about 230 thousand. A 30% increase is anticipated within the next ten years. The sector has entered a growth process after a long restructuring as a result of these developments. The lack of qualified workforce that the sector will be in need of during this growth trend is obvious. We identified the needs of the sector and tailored a program that will meet these needs,” stated Esen.
