EXPERTS WARN ABOUT DOLLAR
The US Dollar broke an all-time record and reached 2 TL. The experts believe the dollar will stay steady for a little longer. While most of us are getting confused by the question of “Should I buy or sell dollars?” experts recommend trusting in Turkish Lira. Halit Soydan, Lecturer at IUE Department of Economics, and Former Managing Director of Yapı Kredi and Garanti Banks, presented his opinions on the record breaking increase of dollar.
Halit Soydan mentioned that the Ministers of Finance got together at the city of Jackson Hole, Wyoming, USA last weekend, and he said “Madame Lagarde, Managing Director of IMF, suggested ‘Break’ at Jackson Hole. The next day British newspapers published graphics. According to the graphics, it looks like dollar will be staying around for a while.” Soydan stated that the dollar would maintain its value around 2 TL, for those who are interested in dollar.
Soydan also stated that everybody got confused with the increasing value of dollar, and warned the small investors to be careful. Soydan said, “Some people say that you should invest your retirement pension in dollars as some people suggest you should sell the dollars you have. There is also a group that insists on saving dollars no matter what. It is very natural to be confused at this time.” Soydan said that this would continue for a little longer but suggested that people should trust in Turkish Lira despite the increasing graphics.
