FOREIGNERS’ INTEREST IN REAL ESTATE
It has been emphasized that the importance of social media in purchasing real estate, which is identified as “most profitable investment”, reached a remarkable level, and with the Reciprocity Law, the foreigners started to invest in Izmir after Istanbul. Between the months of January-June of this year, total of 7 thousand 145 real estates were sold to 7 thousand 761 foreigners. It was indicated that the foreigners were interested in Izmir that attracts attentions with its shores.
İbrahim Evdüzen, graduate of Izmir University of Economics Department of Economics, and REMAX Real Estate Consultant, pointed out that foreigners, especially from Middle East countries, came to Turkey to purchase real estate, and Izmir became very popular due to its shoreline. Evdüzen also mentioned that investments in real estates were at high premium rates since 2008, and even though 2013 had been a bit placid, the months of September-October would offer a window of opportunity. Evdüzen said, “Investing in real estate is the most reasonable investment. Even at its worst, the investors gain 8-9%. Middle Eastern citizens headed for Istanbul due to an interest in Ottomans. Izmir comes in second place as a residential area. The prices stay a bit under the world averages, which become more attractive to foreigners.”
Evdüzen stated that he had been working as a real estate consultant at a corporate firm as REMAX for 2 years, and enhanced his education on portfolio management. He said, “Real estate is a very significant investment tool that never expires. It has always been profitable. Before I started working as a consultant, I worked at our family business operating in civil engineering sector. I did not want to continue my journey without knowing the secrets of sales and marketing. My goal is to manage all portfolios of businessmen, including real estate.” Evdüzen also mentioned that he provided national and international level consulting services through social media.
‘Istanbul firms bring quality to Izmir’
Evdüzen indicated that Istanbul launched construction firms became interested in Izmir creating competition which resulted in quality work. He said, “Real estate market in Izmir started to get more dynamic. Quality is at the forefront. People who want to make purchases pay attention to modernity and technology now.”

Evdüzen indicated that real estate in Turkey did not change hands with the right people, and said that sales should be based on the real value of the building not the demands. He said working with one dependable consultant would be most beneficial in terms of sales and purchases.
