PLASTIC SECTOR WILL EXCEL WITH THE DISTINCTION OF IUE

Izmir University of Economics EKOKENT (Centre for Regional Development, Urban, and Environment) Research and Application Centre Directorate is getting all the attention with the consulting services it provides to the leading companies of plastic sector as part of the Declaration on Supporting the Development of International Competitiveness (URGE) by Ministry of Economy.
The consulting services have been provided since June by Prof. Dr. Erhan Ada, the Director of the Centre, Prof. Dr. Cengiz Erol, Prof. Dr. Hasan Baklacı, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Yiğit Kazançoğlu. The services, which Izmir University of Economics made a bid for and won the bid, were organized within the body of Izmir Chamber of Commerce. The following companies benefit from the consulting services as part of the project: OPAKSAN Plastic Hot Runner Systems Co.Ltd., Beşok Kalıp ve Plastik Sanayi Ticaret, Büker Makine İmalat Sanayi ve Ticaret, Günay Basınçlı Döküm Sanayi ve Ticaret, Keçeci Profil Plastik Sanayi ve Ticaret, Nural Plastik Ambalaj Sanayi ve Ticaret Limited Şirketleri, and Vals Elektronik Mekanik Makine Plastik Kimyevi Ürünler Sanayi ve Ticaret Anonim Şirketi.
Prof. Dr. Erhan Ada, IUE Director of EKOKENT Research and Application Centre, indicated that the project was a very good example of industry-university collaboration, and stated the following:
“The consulting services we started in June will continue for one year by respective lecturers depending on the subject and quality of the services. Faculty members: Assoc. Porf. Dr. Gülem Atabay, Asst. Prof. Dr. Burcu Güneri, Nejat Kutup, Asst. Prof. Dr. Tolga Benli, Asst. Prof. Dr. Berna Okan, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Gülin Vardar take part at the project. The trainings mainly focus on fields such as production planning, stock control, organization structure, human resources management, financial management, reporting and budget systems, cost accounting, and quality management. In addition to these studies, new problem areas are being added in accordance with the demands by companies.”
