DEPARTMENT OF FASHION DESIGN STUDENTS MET THE LEADING NAMES OF THE SECTOR
Izmir University of Economics Faculty of Fine Arts and Design Department of Fashion Design continues to get the professionals from different sectors together with the students. Ayfer Demir, Semra Sevinç and Fashion Photographer Emre Uzer were the guests of the Department of Fashion Design. In her presentation, Ayfer Demir assessed the state of leather sector in Turkey and in the world. Head of Department of Fashion Design Asst. Prof. Şölen Kipöz and instructor Bahar Kürkçü attended the presentation of Ayfer Demir, who shared her knowledge about target audience, production process, sales, marketing and representation with 4th grade students.
Photographer Emre Uzer came from Istanbul as the invited guest of Izmir University of Economics Faculty of Fine Arts and Design Department of Fashion Design and made a presentation about fashion photography. Uzer evaluated the changing structure of fashion photography and said, “No one buys clothes by looking at a fashion photograph anymore. They want to have the life style reflected on the photograph. With the digital technology, photography became widespread and cheaper. However, it is too early to surrender ourselves to digital technology.”
Semra Sevinç from Odak Consultancy shared her experiences about “Brand”. Sevinç gave detailled information about the positioning strategies of the most famous brands and told the ways to become a good brand and maintain it. Sevinç also mentioned about the brand perceptions of the consumers and said, “The consumers are very inscrutable. It is so hard to create a brand that fits their tastes, preferences and perceptions. When we analyze the tactics of the brands that succeeded it, we see that they have understood the consumers very well. Today, the brands develop products for working women. Foods that are prepared fast, lids that are opened easily, colorful technological products are all for women oriented market.”
