4th International Logistics and Supply Chain Congress Has Started
The Opening Ceremony of the 4th International Logistics and Supply Chain Congress is held in the Izmir University of Economics with the participation of many academicians, businessmen and students coming from different countries. The Organizing Committee President Prof. Dr. Tunçdan Baltacıoğlu stated in the opening speech that the sector of logistics is rapidly developing, and he said “There are over 400 people living in the countries around Turkey and logistics activities in these countries are developing. Especially with globalization and development of trade, the importance of logistics has raised. There are countries that try to provide stability like old Soviet Union countries together with countries that try to survive in the political and economical confusion of Middle East such as Iraq and Syria. Turkey is not only a bridge between these countries and Europe but also seems to be the only country that can comply with the requirements. That means a marketplace which costs $50 billion.” The Rector of Izmir University of Economics stated that they have foreseen the future of logistics and offered courses both in undergraduate and graduate programs.
Atilla Chikan, the Co-President of Hungarian Association of Logistics, Purchasing and Inventory Management has pointed out that international logistics has gained a new dimension and underlined the fact that there will be a geographical and technological revolution in the sector of logistics in near future. Chikan said “Rotterdam and Hamburg ports are full, the ships are waiting for a long time to unlade. There will be a change in the direction of the incoming goods. Turkey has a great importance at this point and has to realize the value of it.”
4th International Logistics Congress whose sessions are held in Crowne Plaza Hotel will end on December 01.
