PROJECTS BY LOGISTICS STUDENTS COMPETED

Graduation projects of Izmir University of Economics seniors’ that were co-developed by representatives of various leading companies were deemed worthy of awards. “Price Optimization Project”, co-developed by THY Cargo, came in first place where 9 independent jury members evaluated the projects.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Öznur Yurt, IUE Head of Department of Logistics Management, stated that senior students prepared their graduation projects together with representatives of various leading companies as part of the 5th “University-Industry Collaborations Logistics Project Applications”. Stating that it was a win-win situation for everyone, Yurt said, “Through these collaborations we bring the prospective graduates together with industry representatives, thus, providing academic support to find solutions to existing problems of the companies. At least one faculty member is providing academic support to our seniors while the company representatives provide industrial counselling. These projects allow companies to find qualified workforce, as the students get a chance to see the real life implications before they graduate.”
Projects for Leading Companies…
The graduation projects of student were evaluated by a jury including Asst. Prof. Dr. Yiğit Kazançoğlu from IUE, Nizamettin Kaya from Viking Kağıt, Kerim Deniz Kaçmaz from İnci Holding, Ayşe Ebru Ağlamaz from IUE, Mert Bal from Metro Grossmarket, Sevda Dede from Desan Madeni Yağlar, İlayda Güngör from Dokuz Eylül University, Burcu Mesta, Independent Accountant and Financial Advisor, and Göknil Ay from Maersk. Students, who prepared their projects with fourteen different world renowned companies, were happy to receive their awards.
While the “Price Optimization Project”, co-developed by THY Cargo, came in first place, “EDAK Pharmaceutical Warehouse Supply Chain Design” Project came in second place, and “Warehouse Selection Analysis for Coca-Cola İçecek Izmir” Project came in third place.
