TALENTED MUSICIAN "ALASKAR ABBASOV"
Izmir University of Economics Music Consultant Alaskar Abbasov, he prepared an immortal piece of art for the university with “Tenth Year Oratorio” composed by him. Abbasov, the famous jazz musician of Azerbaijan, attracts attention not only with his music of high quality but also his compositions.
Alaskar Abbasov had opportunity to play with famous musicians both in Turkey and all over the world. Now, he transfers his talents to his students. Abbasov, who organized all shows and music in all activities of Izmir University of Economics, composed “Tenth Year Oratorio” named as “Bir Düş Gördüm – I had a dream” written by Sevil Alp, to be performed in Tenth Year Establishment Anniversary on 14th of April, 2011. Abbasov had opportunity to play with famous musicians like jazz pianist Vagif Mustafazade, Raşid Beybutov. He also stated that “I received Cello education in Conservatory. I worked as the head Cello player in Azerbaijan State Conservatory Symphonic Orchestra for five years. I worked with famous musicians in many countries but now Izmir University of Economics became my new home. I learn new things with young people every day and I transfer my experiences to them.”
Who is Alaskar Abbasov?
Alaskar Abbasov, the worldwide known jazz virtuoso of Azerbaijan, was born in 1958. He attended conservatory education in Azerbaijan in 1965-1981. After completing his MA on cello education in Uzeyir Hacıbeyov Azerbaijan State Conservatory in Baku, he worked as the head Cello player in Azerbaijan State Conservatory Symphonic Orchestra for five years. He started to work with famous Jazz Pianist Vagif Mustafazade in 1978. He also worked in musical theatre of worldwide known singer Raşid Beybutov.
He moved to Turkey in 1992 and he has continued to work with many famous music groups and musicians in Turkey, especially Sezen Aksu, since 1994. Since 1987, he has won many awards with his compositions in festivals. He started to work with Group Laçin in 1999. He gave concerts with Group Laçin in many countries like Belgium, Netherlands, Turkmenistan, Australia, Germany and Kosovo. He composed local music in folk dance competitions in which Izmir Folk Dance Research Institution and Youth Club participated.
He released two albums, named as “Can Sağlığı” and “Alaskar Abbasov” in 2006, composed of his own compositions and arrangements. He started to give lessons in Izmir University of Economics Music Club in 2001-2002 Academic Year and he has been working as Music Consultant in IUE since 2004.
