THE SPECTACULAR OPENING OF IUE OPEN-AIR SHOW CENTER
The ceremony started with presenting plaquettes to the people that contributed to the building of the Open-Air Show Center. IUE, Board of Trustees President Ekrem Demirtaş and IUE Rector Prof. Dr. Attila Sezgin presented plaquettes to Kuryap Ltd. Co. Administrative Board Chairman Architect Muhsin Dönmez, Izmir University of Economics Project Construction Coordinator Mehmet Hamuroğlu and Balçova Mayor Mehmet Ali Çalkaya.
In the ceremony, Izmir University of Economics Rector Prof. Dr. Attila Sezgin stated that Izmir University of Economics has performed many cultural, artistic and social activities since its opening, and said “The Open-Air Show Center, equipped with the latest technology, 24 meters long stage, orchestra pit and capacity of seating 1.600 people serves not only for Izmir University of Economics, but also for whole Izmir.” Izmir University of Economics Board of Trustees President Ekrem Demirtaş also stated that they dreamed of building an amphitheatre at Izmir University of Economics Balçova Campus and said, “We are happy to be able to make this dream come true. We aim to build another amphitheatre at our new campus.”
The grand opening of Izmir University of Economics Open-Air Show Center that brought the outstanding guests from Izmir’s art, culture, politics and business world, continued with tape cutting. Folk Dance Club Director Süleyman Taşer, Latin Dance Clun Director Bengü Aydın, Modern Dance Club Director Tuba Yılmaz, Rhythm Club Director İlker Başnak, Turkish Art Music Club Selvi Pelin İzgü, Music Club Director Cansu Güvener, Theatre Club Director Gülnür Ölçer, Rock Club Director Utku Yabaş, Jazz and Blues Club Director Can Karakaya, IUE Board of Trustees President Ekrem Demirtaş and Mehmet Ali Çalkaya cut the tape.
The ceremony continued with the shows. Firstly, Izmir University of Economics Student Clubs presented a special choreography. The students showed variety of dances accompanied with a live rhythm show. In the final of the show, the audience applauded the Turkish Flag and “We are on Ataturk’s Track” banner unfurled by the students.
Later on, Fire of Anatolia took its place on stage. This time, Fire of Anatolia, which made shows all around the world including, Israel, China, Japan, Lebanon, Qatar, Germany, The Netherlands, Switzerland, Belgium, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Jordan, Romania and Cyprus, got together with the people in Izmir in Izmir University of Economics Open-Air Show Center. Fire of Anatolia, under the direction of Mustafa Erdoğan, charmed the audience.
