PHOTOGRAPHY BRIDGE FROM IZMIR TO MARDIN
Izmir University of Economics Fine Arts and Design Faculty, Visual Communication Design Department student Burcin Gezen photographed southeast for her dissertation. Wit photograph exhibition entitled ‘’Guneydogum (My Southeast)’’ Gezen, will bring Izmir people together with the photographs of children that she had taken from Izmir to Mardin.
Gezen stated that she was impressed by Southeast and she had guessed before that there was a different life in Southeast.It was one of the reasons that she had chosen southeast. People friendly and whole hearted on the contrary of our thoughts, she said. She also stated that everywhere she went people hosted her in their houses.she stayed in their houses at nights. Children of Southeast are friendly and whole hearted like Southeast itself. Their looks are so deep, I tried to reflect these to my photography, she said.
Having gone to her journey to Southeast alone, having stayed in the houses of Southeast people and having done her job in many cities from Mardin to Diyarbakır, Gezen is going to open her first exhibition in Karabaglar Calıkusu Gallery on 28th of December. The exhibition will come together with Izmir people again in Izmir Universtiy of Economics on 14th of January and finally the exhibition will be opened in Mardin with support of Mardin Governorate.
