World of Design Meets at IUE
More than 100 speakers from various countries attend the conference with their notices. Speakers from far countries like Canada, Brazil, and Australia attend the conference that is formed mostly by English and Turkish academicians.
European Academy of Design (EAD) established in 1994 by a committee made up of the leading academicians of Europe, America and Australia has organized 6 conferences so far that take place once in two years.
The dates and the subjects of these conferences are:

• 1997, Stockholm, Sweden: Contextual Design
• 1999, Sheffield, England: Design Cultures
• 2001, Aveiro, Portugal: Desire - Designum – Design
• 2003, Barcelona, Spain: Techné: Design Wisdom
• 2005, Bremen, Germany: Design - System – Evolution
Izmir University of Economics, Dean of Faculty of Fine Arts and Design and the Chairman of the Organization Committee Prof. Dr. Tevfik Balcıoğlu said that the main aim of the Conference in Izmir University of Economics and the European Academy of Design is to encourage research, to examine the traditional boundaries between the disciplines, the application and theory, to get researchers, academicians and professionals together by majoring on different subjects in different countries.
The main titles of the subjects that will be handled in the conference are gathered in the framework of these three key words: discourse, disorder and disaster.
Mavi Jeans Marketing and Product Director Elif Akarlılar will make the opening speech of the seventh international conference of European Academy of Design, entitled “Mavi: Production of a perfect couple of Turkish Delight”.
Moreover, European Academy of Design member Vasco Branco will give €2500 award to the best design notice chosen by the committee in memoriam of his brother João Branco.
After the opening ceremony in Izmir University of Economics on April 11, 2007, the meetings will be held in Crowne Plaza
