FASHION DESIGNERS OF IZMIR UNIVERSITY OF ECONOMICS DECORATE NEW YEAR STORE WINDOWS
Izmir University of Economics, Department of Fashion and Textile Design decorated the windows of Turkey’s all leading stores at Agora Shopping Mall before the New Year. Students, who created New Year concept designs for companies such as Ali Erez, Pelle, and Bisse, decorated the store windows in the wee hours of the morning. While the students highlighted the store windows with their exquisite decorations, they offered variety of shopping options to shoppers with their designs.
Prof. Dr. Elvan Özkavruk Adanır, Head of IUE Department of Fashion and Textile Design, pointed out that the senior students of Fashion Business Option Program gained experience as a result of collaboration with the sector. She said that designs alone did not make a big impression, and store window decorations needed to be designed by professionals. "Students of our department get to choose one of the two options after they finish the second grade: fashion design or fashion business. Fashion Business Option Program has become one of the most demanded option programs lately. Our students conduct projects collaboratively with the sector. We have joint projects with one of Izmir’s leading stores, Ali Erez, for the past year. In this way, our students both gain experience and conduct projects with the sector,” stated Prof. Dr. Özkavruk.
'Significant experience'
Ceren Kurt, Ege Kök, Hazal Yılı, and Nurinisa Çizmeci, senior students of IUE Fashion Business Option Program, created New Year concept designs for stores Ali Erez, Pelle, and Bisse at Agora Shopping Mall. Ceren Kurt, one of the students who took part in store window decoration, stated that the lights and colours in the store needed to integrate with the design. She said, "We came up with a new year concept design for Ali Erez target customers. We started with identifying colour shades for their customers. We created a special design that would make their customers enjoy shopping.”
While Ege Kök, another student in the project, stated that they gained experience, Nurnisa Çizmeci said, "Store window is the easiest way to attract customers. We, as senior students, are gaining experience. Store window decoration in our country is not that developed. Izmir University of Economics allows us to gain expertise in this area. We gain an insight on how to reach customers through collaborations with the sector.”
