‘Augmented and Virtual Reality’ Impact on Interior Design
Izmir University of Economics (IUE) Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design organized the ‘Panel on Augmented and Virtual Reality (AR&VR) Technologies in Interior Architecture’ to evaluate innovative practices and educational methods. Delivering the opening speech of the panel organized within the scope of World Interiors Day (IFI WID), Assoc. Prof. Emre Ergül, Head of Department Interior Architecture and Environmental Design, emphasized the innovation potential of augmented and virtual reality technologies in interior design.
Among the speakers, QReal Education Director Baver Barut and Creative Director Güneş Atakan Pekşen drew attention to the revolutionary effects of AR and VR on design processes. Research Assistant Yasemin Albayrak Kutlay delivered an ‘Understanding VR Technologies and Biometric Sensors and Devices in Interior Design’ titled presentation. In the panel titled ‘Exploring Augmented and Virtual Reality Tools for Interior Architecture Design Education’, speakers discussed the role of AR and VR tools in interior architecture education.
The event, organized at the D Block Multipurpose Hall, ended with the VR workshop exhibition titled, ‘Unlocking Virtuality and Reality Spaces: Re-thinking, Re-acting, Re-calling'.
