GRADUATION OF MULTINATIONAL STUDENTS OF ALL AGES
Master’s Degree Graduation Ceremony of Izmir University of Economics (IUE) proved that ‘learning has no age limit’! Graduates of different ages and nations reported that they received an international education at Izmir as they received their diplomas.
70 students from Graduate Schools of Social Sciences, Natural and Applied Sciences, Health Sciences, and Business were awarded their diplomas as IUE Rector Prof. Dr. Can Muğan pointed out to the importance of graduate education. Prof. Dr. Muğan said, “I wish that our students use the knowledge they learned throughout their study here the best way possible in their professional lives. Lucky us, if we can light a candle to illuminate darkness with what you have learned here.”
Among the graduates, Atiye Burçin Özoğuztan, who completed her third master’s degree at the age of 60, said, “Learning has no age limit. Each piece of information we learn is a gain. We can shed light on others with what we learn”.
Özoğuztan, who graduated from Occupational Health and Safety Master’s Program, IUE Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences, stated that she started to work as occupational safety specialist last year and that she completed the master’s program at Izmir University of Economics because she wanted to improve her academic knowledge in that area. Özoğuztan stated that she was 60 years old and completed master’s programs in 3 different areas so far. “I have received Master’s degrees on psychology and international management before. This is hereditary on my father’s side. My father is the first person to have written a doctoral thesis on occupational safety in our country. I followed his lead. Learning has no age limit. My humble recommendation to young people is that they should always improve themselves. Since occupational safety is relatively new in our country, we have a lot to cover,” said Özoğuztan.
