Online ‘creativity’ festival
Izmir University of Economics (IUE) will organize a “GençYaratıcı (Young Creative) Festival” in order to improve the vision of young people in the field of advertising and to bring them together with the leading names of the communication sector. The online festival that will take place on 29-30 May, will be broadcast live on IUE Faculty of Communication’s YouTube page and will be open to everyone.
The festival, which will start with the opening speech of Rector, Prof. Murat Aşkar and will be held for the first time this year, will be one of the most comprehensive events in digital advertising. Names well-known in the communication world will share their knowledge and experience with the youth in the festival. Many important names such as Levent Erden, Serdar Kuzuloğlu, Refik Anadol, Uğur Özmen, and Can Faga will make instructive assessments for young people on daily topics as “creativity”, “marketing”, “media”, “design and technology”, “initiative”, “digital change”, etc.
IDEAS WILL COMPETE
By participating in the festival, students will have the opportunity to convey their questions instantly and find answers to the topics they are curious about. Additionally, IUE alumni will also convey their experiences to students under the heading “Entry into the Industry Talks”.
In addition to the panels, an advertising competition will be held where students of faculties of fine arts and design, and faculties of communication across the nation can participate. The jury, which will be led by Haluk Mesci, the founder of IUE GençYaratıcı (Young Creative Agency), will choose the best among the special campaigns prepared by the students. The top 3 teams in the competition will be awarded Bluetooth headset, subscription to industry magazines, e-book reader and graphic tablet. Students interested in participating in the competition can apply at gencyaratici.ieu.edu.tr.
IT WILL BE EXEMPLARY
IUE GençYaratıcı Agency Manager Gözde Çeviker said that the festival would be one of the most talked about events lately. “it is very important that students meet with industry representatives and benefit from their ideas in addition to the academic education they receive. We thought that we could make an exemplary festival at the request of our students even though we could not meet face to face due to coronavirus.
We created the program by talking to many names, who have proven themselves, and are experts in their fields. The festival will begin on Friday at 12.00. The panels and chats will continue until the evening. The program, which will start at 10.00 on Saturday, will host a competition as well. The participants will have fun time for two days. GençYaratıcı Creative Director Tayfun Kısacık and Art Director Kue Hea Lee had a lot of support in the realization of the festival. We will continue online activities in the coming period,” said Çeviker.
