IUE students; Don’t feel anxious, take precautions
Young and middle age group without any chronic health concerns such as diabetes, COPD, heart disease, immune deficiency, are less likely to get affected by the new coronavirus (Covid-19).
Your health is very important to us.
During this break from the school, avoid going to crowded places such as movie theaters, gyms, shopping centers, etc. Watch for symptoms; get medical help if you have sore throat, fever, cough, and fatigue. Stay away from sick people, get plenty of liquids, eat healthy, and sleep well.
IUE academic and administrative staff members;
Choose to stay at home and rest if you don’t feel well, or think that you might have the symptoms of the disease.
Make sure to use hand sanitizers frequently. Keep your work are clean. Air the room you are in, and follow the rules when coughing/sneezing or washing hands.
Protect yourself and loved ones!
Wash your hands with a soap for at least 20 seconds. Use alcohol-based hand sanitizers if you don’t have access to soap and water. Avoid touching your eyes and mouth with unwashed hands. Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze, and put your used tissue in a waste basket. If you don't have a tissue, cough or sneeze into your upper sleeve, not your hands.
If you feel sick, isolate yourself from the others, wear a medical mask and stay in another room to prevent the risk of spreading to other family members. If possible, use a separate bathroom. Sterilize tools and equipment you frequently use.
We have taken all the precautions at the University!
We have been disinfecting the whole campus with hygiene products approved by the Ministry of Health for one month. The library, dining hall, and classrooms are being cleaned 3 times a day. Hand sanitizers have been placed around the campus at various locations.
We reduced the number of tables and chairs at the dining hall. We switched to shift system in order to allow eating in smaller groups. We started to serve all forks and knives in disposable packages. Meals are no more self-served, they are now being served by one person.
We cancelled all mass events. We reduced the number of students in classes in order to prevent crowded rooms, allowing students to get education in groups.
The University uses the "lecture capture" system, being offered at a limited number of universities nationwide, and it is fully capable of providing online education when necessary.
