EU support to the ‘energy’ project of IUE professor
The project of Prof. Mehmet Efe Biresselioğlu, Lecturer at Izmir University of Economics (IUE), which he co-developed with academics from 5 countries to encourage use of renewable resources and “low carbon” technology in energy production, received support from the European Union (EU). The European Commission approved, and allocated a special fund for the project. Prof. Biresselioğlu, who is taking part as a co-coordinator in the project, will gather data from all the projects carried out in the field of energy in Europe so far, and create an online platform that will allow access of scientists. Prof. Biresselioğlu will also shed light on how the energy policies of countries should be in the future.
Prof. Mehmet Efe Biresselioğlu, Head of IUE Division of Sustainable Energy, will be working with his colleagues from Norway, Austria, Italy, Belgium, and Portugal as part of the project. The team will hold workshops at 6 countries and thoroughly examine the studies conducted in European countries in the field of energy so far. Information and communication technologies will be used in the project which will include details on energy resources and their benefits. The project will also pave the way for implementation of eco-friendly energy policies. The type of studies conducted in the field of energy, and the kind of technological means used will be identified in details. Assoc. Prof. Muhittin Hakan Demir, Head of IUE Department of Logistics Management, will also be assisting Prof. Biresselioğlu in his studies as a researcher.
“THE PROJECT RECEIVED A SPECIAL FUND”
Prof. Biresselioğlu reported that the European Commission places high importance on the project which qualified to receive a special fund as part of the highly competitive “Horizon 2020” program. While gathering all the data in the field of energy, they would be taking all the socio-economic and environmental features into consideration, pointed Prof. Biresselioğlu and he said, “There are many studies conducted in the field of energy all across Europe. Accessing them is not easy. Studies in the field of energy are very important in the age we live in. We will create a platform where anyone can have an uninterrupted and systematic access to studies in the field of energy as part of the project supported by the European Commission. The platform will include numeric as well as verbal data. We will be providing a solid support to scientists in order to help them carry out an analytical assessment in the field of energy. Taking a part in such a significant project surely makes us very proud. We will start the studies at once.”
