Students’ designs will be presented with a fashion show that will take place at the Fit Club located at IUE E Block on Thursday, December 26 at 19.00.
77 unique designs of 14 students will be showcased on the runway under the title of “Fashion and Sustainability”. Also among the designs to be displayed by IUE models are “My Holiday Memories: Emotional Design” titled collection of third year students.
Prof. Ender Yazgan Bulgun, Dean of IUE Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, stated that the students prepared for the fall fashion show under the theme of sustainability. Prof. Bulgun said that they were in collaboration with the Goethe Institute-Izmir within the framework of sustainability theme for the year 2020. “We are organizing a series of events in order to bring the technical equipment and design in Germany and Turkey together with the purpose of encouraging the sustainable textile production in Turkey. Our students based their designs on sustainability this year. 14 students focused on one of the concepts of zero waste, convertibility, cyclical fashion, ecological and slow fashion, and created their designs,” said Prof. Bulgun.
Prof. Dr. Bulgun reported that 4th year students prepared for the fashion show in design studio course under the guidance of Lecturer Jörn Fröhlich, and 3rd year students prepared for the fashion show under the guidance of Lecturer Assoc. Prof. Şölen Kipöz. Indicating that the fashion show was co-choreographed by Lecturers Başak Gürsoy and Jörn Fröhlich, Prof. Dr. Bulgun said, “The third year students used a memory regarding their summer holiday such as an experience, object, person, or feeling as a design concept. And transformed that concept into a wearable design that is suitable with modern fashion aesthetics.”
