IUE students manufactured for high school students
Students of Furniture and Decoration and Interior Design Programs of Vocational School (VS) of Izmir University of Economics (IUE) manufactured furniture for the students of Karabağlar Atatürk Vocational and Technical Anadolu High School. VS students also started a book donation campaign to fill the bookcases they built.
Desks and bookcases manufactured by IUE VS students at workshops are ready to be used by high school students. In addition to 14 bookcases and desks in total, chairs and other furniture for general use have been provided. IUE students also started a book donation campaign to fill in the bookcases they built. Currently, they have more than 200 books collected, and they aim to raise that number up to 1000, stated Lecturer Burçin Önder, Director of IUE Vocational School. Önder said, “First and second year students of Furniture and Decoration and Interior Design Programs based their projects according to the needs of their high school friends. They designed study areas and areas where they can socialize. They called the project “Development Workshop”. Therefore, we did not stop at manufacturing the furniture; we also started a book donation campaign. We aim to create a fully equipped area for our high school friends.” Furniture manufactured by IUE VS students have been displayed at the 30th Izmir International Furniture Fair MODEKO.
