Students of Furniture and Decoration and Interior Design Programs of Vocational School of Izmir University of Economics (IUE) are manufacturing for the students of Karabağlar Atatürk Vocational and Technical Anadolu High School.
Students of IUE Vocational School Furniture and Decoration and Interior Design Programs came together with the students of Karabağlar Atatürk Vocational and Technical Anadolu High School at a project they called the “Development Workshop”. IUE students are manufacturing reading tables, board game tables, bookcases and board games for the high school students as part of the project.
While the project aims to improve the physical facilities of the high school located in Karabağlar, Izmir, it also creates new areas for development of students in order to help students self-develop and distract them from bad habits.
IUE students are manufacturing many products such as board and wall games as Scrabble, Mangala, Jenga, Go, and chess, bookcase and tables for reading centers. Students, who renovated the school library with the support of Karabağlar Municipality, are determined to revive the library with the book donation campaign they started. To that end, they accept book donations from everyone in Izmir. Currently, they have more than 200 collected, and they aim to raise that number up to 1000.
IUE Vocational Schools students, who will be displaying their Development Workshop Project at the 30th Izmir International Furniture Fair that will begin on March 6, will assemble the project at Karabağlar Atatürk Vocational and Technical Anadolu High School after the fair is over.
