Shelter for stray animals
Şevval Yüce, third year IUE Faculty of Law student and the President of the IUE Animal Lovers Club, provided homes and feeding stations for stray animals living on campus with the support of IUE students for her aid campaign she started not long ago. Yüce, who stated that the Club took care of the animals in the area, and got them treated and adopted, said, “I always had pets. We share a common living space with animals on campus just as we do outside. I wanted them to have a home where they can feel safe, eat, and drink. That is how our project started first. After that, we organized a charity sale with the support of other student clubs and IUE students. This way, we were able to provide shelter and feeding stations for stray animals. We assembled the homes with the support of IUE Vocational School Social Responsibility Committee.” Yüce reported that more than 30 animals benefitted from the shelter, and their feeding stations were checked daily. “Even on holidays, we take turns to make sure they have food and water. We owe it to the animals we share the world with. We need to take responsibility to provide for the animals. In this sense, being an animal lover is more than volunteerism, it is a responsibility,” said Yüce.
