How to get to IUE

By Air:
The closest airport to İzmir is Adnan Menderes Airport.  You may take the HAVAŞ Bus to Alsancak to get to the city center directly.  Also, bus no. 202 operates between the airport and the city center. To get to the campus from the city center (Konak), you may either take a taxi or local bus (no.169).  Please remember to bring TL. with you, or use the exchange office at the airport.


By Taxi:
You may take the private taxis from the airport.  The journey takes approximately 40 minutes and the fare is around 50 TL.  Please be aware that the driver should turn on the taximeter before takeoff.


By Bus:
The following buses operate between the campus and the different districts of the city. Bus ticket can be purchased from local automats only with TL.

By Ferry:
Students coming from Karşıyaka can take the ferry going from Bostanlı to Üçkuyular İskele, which takes about 30 minutes, and then take bus no 480.

Also, there are boats operating between Karşıyaka-Konak, Karşıyaka-Alsancak, and Karşıyaka-Güzelyalı.

By Metro:
There are 2 underground lines in İzmir: İZBAN and İzmir Metro.

İZBAN, similar to a intercity train, operates between north and south part of the city. İzmir Metro, underground transportation, operates between east and west of the city.

There are 2 junctions between İZBAN and İzmir Metro: Halkapınar and Hilal.

To get to IUE from or to downtown, İzmir Metro is ideal. It starts at Fahrettin Altay and goes through Konak. Between Fahrettin Altay and IUE-Balçova, buses no 169, 969, 480 operate regularly.
