WORKSHOP WITH GUIDANCE TEACHERS
Izmir University of Economics (IUE) Vocational School came together with the guidance teachers of high schools in Izmir on Friday, 29 June 2018.
IUE Vocational School lecturers held an interactive training on “Basics of Neuro-linguistic Programming (NLP)”. Following the training, lecturers of Furniture & Decoration Program of IUE Vocational School held a workshop on Pyrogravure (the art of decorating wood or other materials with burn marks) where guidance teachers engraved their names on wooden name plaques that were later on gifted to them.
Afterwards, Lecturer Taylan Demirkaya talked about the five stages of an entrepreneurial mindset with an “Entrepreneurial Mindset” titled speech. He gave tips about how to put these stages in practice and how to support students about entrepreneurship. Following Demirkaya’s speech, Promotion Specialist Özlem Ayar delivered a “Being a Student at Izmir University of Economics” titled presentation. In her speech, Ayar talked about the recently changed transition to higher education exam, and she gave information about what the students and guidance teachers were up against with the new examination. Ayar also pointed out the importance of vocational schools in her speech.
The event ended with the “Why are we Enrolled in Associate Program?” titled presentation of IUE Vocational School Lecturers. The presentation addressed the importance of associate education for Turkey in a global ecosystem, and the responsibilities of educators and vocational schools regarding that. At the end of the event, Lecturer Burçin Önder, Director of IUE Vocational School, delivered a closing speech highlighting the strengths of Vocational School of Izmir University of Economics, and the participants were presented their certificates.
