‘FASHION LOVED ART!’
Senior students of Department of Fashion and Textile Design, Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Izmir University of Economics, completed their education journey with “Fashion Loves Art” titled fashion show. IUE students displayed the ready-to-wear clothing they designed based on the theme fashion loves art at the graduation fashion show at IUE Ceremony Field. Also, the graduation exhibition of Faculty of Fine Arts and Design students’ took place before the fashion show.
Ekrem Demirtaş, President of IUE Board of Trustees, IUE Rector Prof. Dr. Can Muğan, IUE Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Murat Aşkar, Prof. Dr. Ender Yazgan Bulgun, Dean of IUE Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Atınç Atabay, President of Aegean Clothing Manufacturers' Association, Members of the Board of Trustees, and guests attended the event.
Prof. Dr. Ender Yazgan Bulgun, Dean of IUE Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, in her speech prior to the fashion show, stated that the students, in addition to receiving theoretical and practical courses, got a chance to enrich their point of view by means of various different activities, and the graduation fashion show and the graduation exhibition allowed students to display their products. Prof. Dr. Bulgun said that total of 250 students from 5 departments of the Faculty graduated this year. “Our students’ 2017 graduation collections focused on possible impacts of 20th century art on fashion design, and they combined it with ready-to-wear clothing. 9 students prepared an 89-piece collection. Akif Örük choreographed the fashion show. And our very own students modeled the collection on the runway,” said the Professor.
