    Graduates of Izmir University of Economics (IUE), has come together on the 4th Kumru Day, and relived old memories. The guests enjoyed eating kumrus, one of Izmir’s many symbols, and chatted at IUE Balçova Campus Ceremony Field accompanied with DJ Tamer Varis’s music.

    Prof. Dr. Ünal Tekinalp, Chairman of Draft Turkish Commercial Code Commission, pointed out that the courts adjusted greatly with the new law coming into force, and that  petty investors became more powerful in filing lawsuits.

    It has been pointed out that 15% of the population in Turkey were below the at-risk-of-poverty threshold and that living conditions would only get worse due to low income. Based on the Income and Living Conditions Survey, 2013 by Turkish Statistical Institute  (TUIK), there is a 8 times difference between the 20% population that has the highest income rate and the 20% population that has the lowest income rate. It has been reported that Turkey needed to support its middle class and that it would contribute to a steady development and healthy economic growth.

    The aesthetics of nature come to life in pictures. Melahat Kızıl, Lecturer at IUE Vocational School of Health, reflects the richness of natüre combined with light to macro pictures in her exhibition titled, “Basıp Geçtiklerimiz”. The exhibition of 25 pictures will be available at IUE Faculty of Fine Arts and Design Multi-Purpose Hall through September 29.
