  • CONVENIENT FURNITURE FOR SMALL SPACES

    Students of Izmir University of Economics (IUE) Departments of Industrial Design, and Interior Architecture and Environmental Design represented the school at the 26th Izmir Furniture Fair MODEKO 2015 with furniture they designed for small spaces. The students are offering alternative furniture for small houses with their unique designs at the fair available through March 1.  Nine out of 40 pieces of furniture designed by 80 students as part of Furniture Design course are being displayed at the fair. Students designed furniture based on the levels of income, such as folding end tables, study desks, living room sets for small spaces.

  • ART INSTEAD OF SUBSTANCE

    University students’ awareness on substance dependence will be raised through the power of art and music. The partners of “Maddeyle Değil Sanatla Yaşa (Live with Art Not with Substance” Project of Izmir University of Economics, who got granted by Izmir Turkish Green Crescent Society for the most enriched program in terms of content and impact in Aegean Region, will be Balçova Municipality and Etkin İnsan Personal Development Institute.

  • MATERNITY WARDS FAIL TO MEET THE NEEDS

    It has been stated that social and psychological needs of moms, babies, and families are not taken into account when designing the maternity wards in hospitals. Research Assistant Hande Atmaca of IUE Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design noted that childbirth was not an illness, and the rooms needed to be designed by taking spatial factors into account in her “Patient Centered Approaches in Labor and Delivery Room Design in Hospitals” titled thesis.

  • SUMERBANK’S PATTERNS COME TO LIGHT

    Patterns of Sümerbank, which left their mark in history, will be on display in virtual museum for interested parties. Izmir University of Economics, Faculty of Fine Arts and Design will archive thousands of patterns with “Establishing Digital Textile Design Archive and Virtual Museum” titled project supported by Izmir Development Agency (IZKA), and the past 50 years of Turkish textile and fashion history will be available on virtual environment.
